Now that Astoria Bank has joined Sterling National Bank, we will combine our operating systems onto a single platform. Effective Monday, August 13, 2018, your current accounts and services will transfer automatically.

Here’s what you need to know

We’re transitioning your accounts to the Sterling operating system, which will give you full access to the wide range of services Sterling has to offer.

To learn about your new accounts, please refer to the mail package we sent you recently, which contains personalized information about your transition.

Expect limited service over the weekend of August 11-12 as we complete your transition. Please refer to the Key Dates section below for details.

Important Transition Information

Account Number(s)

  • Account numbers will not be changing.
  • You can continue to use your current checks and banking supplies until they run out. Beginning August 13, checks you order through Sterling will have the bank’s name and routing number. For checks ordered through a third-party supplier on or after August 13, you need to provide them with the bank’s name and routing number, which is 221970443.

Direct Deposit

  • Direct deposits and automated payments will continue without interruption.

Deposit Statements

  • You will receive a statement reflecting activity through August 10. Thereafter, statement cycles for personal clients will change to the 7th of the month. For business clients, your statement cycles will continue to be month-end.
  • Deposit account statements will have a new look, and some transaction descriptions will be modified starting August 13.
  • Combined statements will continue to have the same accounts listed.

Overdraft Protection

  • Automatic transfers from savings or money market accounts to cover checking overdrafts (Bounce Protection) will remain uninterrupted. As an added benefit, we will now transfer funds in the amount of the overdraft rather than in increments of $100. This means more of your funds remain in your savings or money market account earning interest.
  • Existing overdraft coverage from a line of credit to a checking account will remain in effect.
  • Overdraft line of credit statements will look different, and statement cycles will end on the 7th of the month, with the due date 25 days later.
  • All other terms and conditions will remain the same.

Debit and ATM Cards

  • You may continue to use your current ATM and/or debit card(s).

Online and Mobile Banking

  • There will be some changes to your first-time log-in process; users will be notified in a separate communication by mail.

Key Transition Dates

Wednesday, August 8 at 4:00 PM ET

  • Mobile Bill Pay and Mobile Check Deposit will become unavailable.

Friday, August 10

  • 1:00 PM ET Business Online Banking, Bill Pay and Mobile Banking services will become unavailable.
  • 6:00 PM ET Personal Mobile Banking services will become unavailable.
  • 8:00 PM ET Personal Online Banking and Bill Pay services will become unavailable.
  • 10:00 PM ET Automated Telephone Banking will become unavailable.

Saturday and Sunday, August 11-12

  • All Sterling financial centers will be closed.
  • Our Client Services professionals will be available by phone to answer your conversion-related questions on Saturday from 8:30 AM ET to 3:00 PM ET.
  • You may continue to use your Debit and/or ATM card(s).

Monday, August 13

  • Your new Sterling accounts and services take effect.
  • Online Banking, Bill Pay, Mobile Banking and 24/7 Automated Telephone Banking will resume at 7:00 AM ET.
  • Financial Centers re-open (see Extended Service Hours for details).
