Yonkers Partners in Education

YPIE College Success is an ancillary YPIE program serving approximately 200 students per year and providing intense life coaching through the first two years of college.

Five Sterling National Bank employees volunteered to guide students through a professional development workshop focused on networking, social media best practices, and developing a LinkedIn profile and professional presence online. Sterling also supported YPIE with grant funding to help prepare and coach 650 high school students for college as part of its YPIE Scholars program.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement (JA) of New York, promotes financial literacy, career awareness, and entrepreneurship among young people in New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley—supporting programming in 330 public schools each year.

15 Sterling volunteers led important educational programming, facilitating an in-depth workshop promoting higher education and visiting three middle school classes to share their career experiences.

Island Harvest – a Food Bank For Long Island

Island Harvest delivers millions of pounds of good, surplus food—much of which might otherwise go to waste—to a network of 570 Long Island-based non-profit organizations that offer feeding services for those in need.

31 volunteers from Sterling participated in a variety of events throughout the holiday season, including helping to pack hundreds of Thanksgiving food boxes, making food deliveries to area health centers, writing letters and making greeting cards to combat loneliness in nursing homes and hospitals, and organizing a food drive to support mothers being reunited with their families after incarceration.

Global Kids

Global Kids’ curriculum combines global affairs with service learning and prepares students for college and career advancement. With a 99% graduation rate for participants, Global Kids sparks an intrinsic desire to make a difference, take on leadership roles, and serve as advocates for global issues inside and outside of their communities.

Sterling volunteers helped to lead a college/career prep program and a financial literacy seminar in 2020. Sterling’s Charitable Foundation’s recent grant to Global Kids will also support program operations in 18 schools within the five boroughs.
